How important is sleep? What happens if we do not get enough?
It's important to get enough sleep because sleep helps keep your mind and body healthy.
Most adults need 7 to 8 hours of good quality sleep on a regular schedule each night.
By far the healthiest option for most people, sleeping on your back allows your head, neck, and spine to rest in a neutral position. This means that there's no extra pressure on those areas, so you're less likely to experience pain. Sleeping facing the ceiling also ideal for warding off acid reflux.

Prepare your body for sleep:

  • Stick to a sleep schedule
  • Exercise early in the day
  • Limit daytime naps
  • Get a comfortable pillow and mattress
  • Pay attention to what you eat and drink
  • Be aware of hidden caffeine
  • Turn off devices
  • Shower or wash your face
  • Brush your teeth
  • Take your last supplements of the day
  • Lower the lights
  • Free your mind
  • Read with low light
  • Listen to a sound machine
