Absent Mindedness is a position of unawareness when a person's thought processes are overwhelming enough to distract them from their surrounding environment.
Occasional memory lapse & forgetfulness can be normal. As adults age, many worry that becoming more forgetful is the first sign of Alzheimer's Disease but scientists now know that people can remain both alert and able as they age, although it may take them longer to remember things.

IMPROVE YOUR MEMORY:
Give your brain a workout. Your memory has muscle memory characteristics... it requires you to use it or lose it. The more you workout your brain the better it will be able to process and remember information. Break your routine and challenge your mind to develop new pathways.
